Summer EMT

We're excited to announce that registration for our upcoming EMT Summer Course is now open!


This comprehensive program is designed to equip aspiring EMS professionals with the knowledge, skills, and certification needed to embark on a rewarding career as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Whether you're considering a career in healthcare, emergency response, or public service, this course is an excellent opportunity to take the next step towards achieving your goals.


This Program includes 80 lecture hours, 11.5 self-paced lecture hours, 62 skills lab hours, 24 clinical hours minimum, and 18

examination (cognitive and psychomotor) hours. Lecture hours and skills labs will be a combination of lecture, simulation, demonstration, and student participation. Clinical hours consist of one 12-hour ride along shift with an interfacility (IFT) ambulance company and two 12-hour ride-along shifts with a 9-1-1 ambulance company with a minimum of 10 patient contacts. Examination hours are reserved for unit written exams, final written exam, final skills exams, and exam reattempts as necessary. 


Here are some key details about the EMT Summer Course:


- Duration: 5 weeks

- Dates: July 8, 2024 - August 9, 2024 (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays)

- Time: 8 am - 5 pm (with an hour lunch)

- Location: Somerset High School - Room 14; Address: 9242 Laurel St, Bellflower, CA 90706

- Prerequisites: Students must have an American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Card before the start date, July 8th, and be the age 18 before the end of August 2024.

- Curriculum: Our course covers essential topics such as patient assessment, basic life support techniques, medical terminology, trauma care, and emergency response protocols. You'll also have the opportunity to gain practical experience through hands-on training and simulated scenarios.

- Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, you'll be eligible to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam and obtain your EMT certification.
